A documentary following a team of glaciologists across three seasons in the high Himalaya has won the top prize at a regional film festival, its first major award.
Shot over eighteen months, largely above 5,000 metres, the film follows measurement work at glaciers that feed river systems relied on by millions downstream.
Making it
The director described the logistics rather than the filming as the hard part: equipment had to be carried, power rationed, and every ascent planned around a weather window.
What it shows
The film avoids commentary in favour of observation, letting the measurements and the researchers' own discussions carry the argument.
It is scheduled for a limited domestic release before streaming, with a Nepali-subtitled version planned for school screenings.
