Nepal's tech exports post steady growth as outsourcing demand holds

Software and IT-enabled service exports grew again this quarter, with most of the increase coming from expanded work for existing clients rather than from new accounts.

Industry bodies estimate the sector now employs a five-figure workforce concentrated in the Kathmandu valley, with smaller clusters in Pokhara and Biratnagar.

The constraint

Companies consistently name senior engineering capacity, not demand, as the binding constraint. Mid-level developers are plentiful; people who can run a delivery team are not.

Payments and policy

Simplified foreign-currency receipt rules have removed one long-standing friction, though firms say repatriation and invoicing remain more complex than in competing markets.
